Practicing for show season?

What do you do to train for the upcoming season? This is just a fun question for jumpers and eventers! I work my horse on the lunge everyday for five minutes to warm him up and I free jump him once or twice a month. I also ride him in our deep Minnesota snow to help work his leg muscles. Share pictures of your horse too!

I’m a all a round rider but I mostly show western. When I pratice durring the winter, i do the following.
1. ride bareback, it helps so much with learning how to get a better seat.
2. work on the events that I didn’t place very well in. I work on reining and trail
3. Have a “mock” show with a friend. Its a horseless show. It helps so much on my showmanship form.
4. Ride the Barrel. hahaha put a barrel on its side and put a english saddle on. Its mostly for my friend since she started english.
5. Ride the Gate. oh lord this one is funny. Strattle the gate and have a friend move the gave sharp or bouncy. This is how I improved my 2 point, sliding stop, posting, and sharp turns. Haha the story of how we came up with it. Normally we have a plastic blue barrel to use but we couldn’t find it anywhere. So I said for a joke it’d be funny if we could ride the gate. My friends face lit up and she said it was a excellent idea.
6. I also use off season to read up on the rules and trainers advice of how to do things. I also watch youtube for events that I do and point out errors.
