does VERY early shifting on an automatic save gas?
i drive an automatic, and i shift AS SOON as I think it can, at about 1500-2000 rpm. I know this is effective on a manual transmission in saving gas, but is it the same on an automatic, or will it waste more gas if i force it to shift like 3 times before the next stop sign?
The experts say to save gas, get into the next higher gear as quick as possible. Of course you don’t want to lug the engine to do so. Is this true, well they made a study of this so the experts should be correct.
