Does putting my car in neutral save any gas?
When I’m at a stop sign, I always put my car (automatic) in neutral to try and save gas, does this really stop the gas though?

Hi, I’d just like to say that I meant to put “stop light” obviously there isn’t enough time to be switching gears at a stop sign.
First of all, it’s not illegal to put your car in neutral. Manual drivers do it all the time.
It probably doesn’t save much gas because the engine is still running, but it does save some. The best way to save gas at really long lights, train crossings and bad traffic is to turn off the engine.
