How to read the MBTA Commuter Rail Schedule?
I’m trying to find times from Mansfield to Providence.
I understand that this is a very simple process, but for some reason I always forget how, and end up misreading it.
Should I be looking at Inbound times or Outbound?
And then should I be looking at “Providence” or “Mansfield”?
Thank you!
Inbound versus Outbound refers to Boston, the MBTA’s center of the universe. So Mansfield to Providence would be Outbound as it is going away from Boston. Then look at Mansfield, and find the time the train leaves Mansfield. Look down to Providence and make sure that the time is later that the Mansfield time. If it is earlier, you have the wrong schedule. (MBTA hasn’t perfected the trains that go backwards in time yet.)
If there isn’t any time listed for Providence, the train doesn’t go there. If there IS a time, then that’s when the train is scheduled to get there.
