SF to Santa Clara Commute – best driving route?
Anybody has the fastest driving route from SF to Santa Clara, on the 101 side? Are there times optimal for 101 vs. 280? How much time do I save if I carpool?
In the months of experimenting I find carpooling on 101 helps a great deal especially when traveling at peak hours – evening 5pm to 6:30pm. The shortest, straightforward route is the direct 101. Alternately, if can’t get a carpool buddy, then could try Lawrence Expressway over to 280 N and get to SF via 280 onto Kings Street or get back to 101 via 380. In either situations I do use the live traffic update on Y! Maps and or call in 511 before I hit the road.
