What is the longest distance you can travel by public transport?

I know that in Chicago, you can take the Metra train to the border Wisconsin and also to South Bend, Indiana. The total distance is at least 80 miles. Are there cities where you can travel further than by train or bus through? I'm not including Amtrak, just city and county transit.
