Help me contest this UCLA parking ticket please!?
I found a parking permit valid until 6/30 in the gym a few weeks ago. I just left it in the car without much thought. I take the bus to school and live 2 miles away so I have no means to use this permit. Well, a couple days ago, 6/27, my boyfriend and I carpooled to school together, taking my car ( I drove). He has a parking permit valid for the summer since he’s taking classes for the summer. For some unknown stupidity, I hooked that found permit sitting in my car for the longest time thinking it was my boyfriend’s permit that I had grabbed from his car before leaving for school. Turns out, when I returned to the car, I recieved a $300 fine stating that the permit being used is reported lost and I have a notice saying I have to schedule a hearing. I’m absolutely at a loss for words. I cannot afford this heavy fine as a student and don’t think I deserve it by all means. How do I contest this? I don’t even need a permit since i take the bus or can just ask my bf to take me to school.
I’m sure you will be allowed to explain yourself. Be sure to have an excuse for not turning the parking permit in when you found it. I would assume that is because it was almost expired. Take your boyfriends permit with you so they can verify that you did not need to use the one you found when you took your b/f to class.
